I personally use dark mode for my smartphone and laptop because it doesn’t give me that much eye strain, especially in dark spaces and it consumes less energy, but aside from these benefits, it’s really aesthetically pleasing to the eye also.
Now, if one of those is your reason for switching from the usual Light Mode to Dark Mode, we’re here to help you.
Windows 10
1. Click the Start button and then hit Settings
2. Hit Personalization and then click Colors.
3. Under Choose your color, you can now select Dark. This is also the step if you want to switch back to Light Mode.
4. To add some spice, you can select your own accent color. You can choose one accent color under Recent Colors or Windows Colors. You also have the option for a Custom Color if you prefer other colors. Lastly, if you want a more adaptive accent color depending on your desktop’s background, you can choose Automatically pick an accent color from my background.
5. If you want to put accent colors to other surfaces such as ‘Start, taskbar, and action center’ and ‘Title bars and window borders’, just click the checkbox to enable it.
Windows 11
1. Hit the Start button and then select Settings
2. Click Personalization and then choose Colors.
3. Under Choose your mode, you can now select Dark. This is also the step if you want to switch back to Light Mode.
4. Under the Accent Color section, you can let Windows automatically pick an accent color based on your wallpaper by just selecting Automatic. To manually select and choose one accent color under Recent Colors or Windows Colors. You also have the option for a Custom Color if you prefer other colors.
5. When you scroll down, you’ll also have the option to Show accent color on Start and taskbar and Show accent colors on tile bars and windows borders. You can try to turn them on or off based on your preference.
