One of our readers asked, “Would like to seek for your insight on how reliable and practical google storage premium?”

I assume you’re referring to Google One so we’ll discuss that. I’m currently subscribed to Google One’s services so I’ll provide my own experience.

As of writing, Google offers a free 15GB of storage that is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. That’s pretty decent compared to other cloud storage platforms. It would take a while before you can consume the 15GB as not all services would take up space like Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. Google Photos, on the other hand, offers unlimited storage for images in “High Quality”. So why did I subscribe? Its emails. I acquired tons for the past years which includes attachment of large files that I eventually filled my free 15GB.

I don’t want to go through the hassle of deleting emails so I subscribed to the 100GB plan for PHP 89 a month. There are other benefits to it though. Since I have a bigger storage now, I can frequently back up data from my Android smartphone which is handy when I switch between Android devices I have to review. I also have enough space to back up certain images to Google Photos in full resolution. Sharing large files via Google Drive is now possible. In a way, it’s liberating.

If you think the allocation is too much, there is an option to create a family group so you can share your unused storage with family members or friends. I used mine to create some sort of a digital photo album so we can easily share photos.

So, to answer your question. Yes, Google One is reliable. I’ve been using it for months and hasn’t failed me. As for its practicality, it works for me, but I suggest looking at your current Google storage consumption and find out if 15GB is not really enough. Try freeing up space first by using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and by moving your photos to Google Photos in High Quality.

I hope that I answered your question and helped you with your decision on whether to subscribe to Google One or not.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
