Apple’s recent ‘Scary Fast’ event last October 30 only introduced M3-powered 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro. With that, one of our readers ask:
Hello Yugatech! Haven’t read the article but i guess wala na pong 13″ macbook pro right? –David Niño Angelo Pattaguan
Yes. The 14-inch MacBook Pro is now the lineup’s base model offering. It also marks the end of the Touch Bar.
While many articles online say that the MacBook Pro 13-inch is gone for good, I also read some saying that Apple could introduce a redesigned 13-inch MacBook Pro with M3 inside next year.
Discontinuing the 13-inch MacBook Pro as the base model in its tier appears to be a strategic decision by Apple. This move aligns with the company’s focus on differentiation and value proposition within its product portfolio.
The MacBook Air M2 for example, with its 13-inch option, offers a more compelling value proposition for consumers due to its attractive price point and distinctive features. And it doesn’t have the controversial Touch Bar.
By positioning the MacBook Air lineup as an entry-level choice for a Mac experience, Apple can clearly differentiate the MacBook Pro as the premium choice for users who demand the more power and performance.
This distinction allows Apple to cater to the diverse needs of its customers while maintaining a clear brand identity.
Considering these, the thoughts of a new 13-inch MacBook Pro M3 might never see the light of day. Unless Apple makes another one-more-thingy reveal in the future.
