Creality is teasing the SPARKX i8, a four-color desktop FDM 3D printer built around a new single-printhead system that the company says can reduce color-change time and filament waste. The printer remains in the preview stage, with no confirmed price, release date, or Philippine availability.

Creality calls the system QuarTeks. Instead of sending each filament through a long shared path before it reaches the extruder, the design keeps four color channels close to the hotend and brings them together less than 1 mm from the nozzle, according to the company’s product page.

That shorter path is intended to reduce the amount of material that must be purged whenever the printer changes color. Purging is the process of pushing old filament out of the nozzle before the next color is used. It is one of the main sources of waste in conventional multicolor FDM printing.

Creality claims that QuarTeks can switch channels in under one second and deliver up to 500% faster multicolor printing than conventional systems. The company also claims 2.7 times less filament waste. Those figures are based on Creality’s own comparisons, not independent testing, and the actual result will depend on the model, slicer settings, layer height, materials, and purge strategy.

The official page also promotes a zero-gram external-waste mode for select models. In this approach, purge material is redirected into the model’s infill instead of being pushed into a separate waste tower. That does not mean every multicolor print will produce no waste, and Creality’s own qualification limits the claim to supported models and printing conditions.

The SPARKX i8 is described as a bedslinger with a 260 × 260 × 255 mm build volume. All3DP also reported a 300°C hotend and a 100°C heated bed. The official product page lists an ultra-short filament path, real-time monitoring through 13 intelligent sensors and an AI camera, 81-point bed leveling, automatic Z-offset, input shaping, and controls intended to reduce color bleeding.

The printer is also positioned as a connected creator tool. Creality’s page promotes access to Creality Cloud models, photo-to-3D conversion, phone-based slicing, and remote printing. These features could make the system easier to use for beginners, schools, cosplay makers, and small print businesses, although the quality of generated models and the reliability of remote workflows still need practical testing.

The low-waste angle is potentially more important than the headline speed. Multicolor printing can consume extra filament during transitions, increasing both operating cost and cleanup. A system that genuinely reduces purge material could make small-batch products, props, toys, and classroom projects more practical. The trade-off is that the i8’s efficiency claims have not yet been independently validated, and four colors still limit the palette compared with systems that support more filament channels.

Creality has not announced a price, shipping date, or sales region for the SPARKX i8. The company is collecting sign-ups for early-bird offers and says the printer will be shown at IFA 2026 in Berlin from September 4 to 8.
